The Scientists

A Fully Documented Record of Deaths, Disappearances, and Contested Rulings — 2022–2026

Editorial Note — Sources, Inclusions, and Case Status
Every case documented below is sourced to at minimum two of the following: official missing persons filings, law enforcement statements, congressional record, coroner or medical examiner records, or named credentialed journalism (Fox News, NBC, CNN, Newsweek, LA Magazine, House Oversight Committee published letters). Case status reflects the most current publicly available information as of May 2026. The FBI investigation into potential connections between these cases was formally confirmed in April 2026; no connections have been officially established as of this publication. Cases are grouped by geographic and institutional cluster. One case (Grillmair) has a charged suspect. One case (Wilcock) is included as a contextual supplementary entry. All evidence tiers are applied throughout.

On April 15, 2026, Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy stood in the White House briefing room and asked press secretary Karoline Leavitt a question that, six months earlier, would have been dismissed as the province of conspiracy forums: were there ten dead or missing American scientists with access to classified nuclear or aerospace material, and was anyone investigating whether the cases were connected? Seven days later, simultaneous investigations had been announced by the White House, the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and the FBI. The acceleration tells you something. People whose professional job is to evaluate national security threats looked at this list and concluded it required a federal investigation. That finding is documented. What the investigation has produced is, as of May 2026, not.

C1 Verified · House Oversight Committee Published Record / April 20, 2026 / FBI Director Kash Patel Statement

The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform formally sent letters to the Department of Energy, Department of Defense, FBI, and NASA stating: "These deaths and disappearances may represent a grave threat to U.S. national security and to U.S. personnel with access to scientific secrets." FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed: "We're going to look for connections" with specific attention to "foreign actors," adding: "If there's any connection that leads to nefarious conduct or conspiracy, the FBI will make the appropriate arrest." The Department of Defense confirmed in response to a congressional inquiry that there are no active national security investigations of any current or former DoD clearance holder in special access programs — a response the Committee characterized as leaving "many unanswered questions."

The confirmed quote [C2 Fox News / Yahoo News]: "We discovered antigravity, and our lives went to [expletive] and people started sabotaging us. It's harassment, threats. It's awful." — 2020 Jeremy Rys interview. Timeline of pre-death warnings below. Father Richard Eskridge told NewsNation: "Scientists die also, just like other people." His position is part of the documented record.

The Eskridge Pre-Death Warning Record

December 6, 2018 [C1]
Eskridge delivers "A Historical Perspective on Anti-Gravity Technology" at HAL5. Documented on HAL5.org. PDF archived and confirmed accessible. First major public presentation of her electrogravitic research.
2019 — Research Presentation [C2 / C3 interpretation]
A resurfaced video from a 2019 presentation shows two men interrupting Eskridge as she discusses her anti-gravity work. According to IBTimes UK's reporting, observers interpreted the exchange as a warning that going public with her findings would have consequences. [C3] — the "warning" interpretation is observers' characterization. The video and the interruption are documented [C2].
2020 — The Discovery Statement [C2]
"We discovered antigravity, and our lives went to [expletive] and people started sabotaging us. It's harassment, threats. It's awful." — Jeremy Rys interview. Verified by Fox News and Yahoo News. She also announces intent to present anti-gravity findings but states she requires NASA approval first.
2021 — Alleged Surveillance Campaign [C3]
Eskridge claimed she was being stalked by "an Eastern European man in his 50s or 60s who used a Lexus with plates that changed almost daily." She claimed he pulled up as an Uber when her partner called for a ride. She described the campaign as lasting "several years" but escalating into "aggressive and invasive behavior." [C3] — Eskridge's account, relayed by Franc Milburn to IBTimes UK. Unverified.
Pre-May 2022 — Directed Energy Weapon Claims [C3]
A video preserved online shows Eskridge stating her "hands have been burned to hell and back" — attributed by her to an RF k-band emitter she claimed was inside a surveillance vehicle. She shared burn-mark photographs with former British intelligence officer Franc Milburn. Referenced "my ex-CIA weapons guy on my team" who had witnessed the marks. Rep. Eric Burlison (R-MO) raised Havana Syndrome as a possible factor in formal congressional correspondence. [C2] for Burlison's congressional statement. [C3] for Eskridge's DEW account.
May 13, 2022 — Pre-Death Warning [C2]
Eskridge sends Signal message to Franc Milburn — 29 days before her death: "If you see any report that I killed myself, I most definitely did not. If you see any report that I overdosed, I most definitely did not. If anything happens to me — suicide or an accident — it wasn't, it's suspicious, treat it as such." [C2] Fox News · Newsweek · Cybernews · IBTimes UK
June 11, 2022 — Death [C2 for ruling; ND for cause]
Found dead in Huntsville, Alabama. Official ruling: self-inflicted gunshot wound. No police report, no autopsy, no medical examiner statement has been publicly released. Body reportedly cremated shortly after death — Milburn stated this prevented further forensic investigation. Milburn, who spoke with Eskridge hours before she was found dead, concluded she did not commit suicide. Independent investigators presented their findings to Congress in 2023.
ND No Definitive Determination · Cause and Manner of Death

The Eskridge case presents the most extensive pre-death warning record of any subject in this series, paired with the most opaque official record. The combination — extensive documented self-warnings, zero official transparency, rapid cremation, and formal congressional attention — produces an evidentiary situation that cannot be resolved from available public sources. Her father, a retired NASA propulsion researcher who co-founded her research institute, maintains that her death was not suspicious. His position is part of the documented record and is not dismissed. This publication presents the full record and makes no finding as to whether her death was suicide, homicide, or the result of the targeting she documented. The FBI investigation is the appropriate venue for that determination.

"There's no way out of this f***ed up situation till I publish."

Obituary
"Passed away unexpectedly after having been missing since December 12, 2025"
Inclusion basis
Included by House Oversight Committee investigators. Pharmaceutical research can have classified analog applications, but this publication has not independently verified a classified-program connection. Classified connection is [ND] — not confirmed by QP.
Pattern note
Body recovered from lake — consistent with Paulides' documented proximity-to-water pattern in the Missing 411 case record
Supplementary Contextual Case
Included for documented timing and pattern adjacency — not a core cluster member under QP inclusion criteria
David Wilcock
UFO Researcher · Author · UAP Disclosure Advocate · Died April 20, 2026
Supplementary · Family-Confirmed Suicide [C2]
Date of death
April 20, 2026 — three days after the Moffatt family plane crash
Confirmed cause [C2]
Family statement: "David Wilcock took his own life on April 20, 2026, after a long struggle with depression and overwhelming financial debt." Family asked that his death "encourage more focused attention to mental health care access."
Prior statement [C2]
In previous public statements, Wilcock had written that he was "not suicidal at all." Following his death, this statement generated questions parallel to the Eskridge pre-death warning record.
Timing [C2]
Died approximately 48 hours after a widely viewed livestream specifically discussing the pattern of missing and dead scientists documented in this series. IBTimes UK: "David Wilcock Warned About Missing Scientists on Livestream, Then Died 48 Hours Later."
Editorial note: Wilcock is included as a supplementary contextual case because of documented timing adjacency and because he spent years publicly engaging with UAP/missing scientists research. His family's confirmed statement — depression and financial difficulty — is the documented [C2] account. The MK-Ultra / directed energy weapon hypothesis as a possible factor is addressed in Chapter VII [OA]. This publication does not characterize his death as anything other than what the family has confirmed pending any subsequent evidence.

The Federal Response

The speed and simultaneity of the institutional response to this cluster is itself a data point. Congressional oversight committees do not launch formal multi-agency investigations within days of a news cycle unless investigators have examined the underlying record and found it sufficient to warrant action.

C1 Verified · House Oversight Committee Published Letters / White House Briefing Record / FBI Director Statement

The House Oversight Committee's April 20, 2026 letter to the DoD, FBI, Department of Energy, and NASA specifically flagged the documented professional link between Monica Reza and General McCasland — noting their shared connection to "an Air Force–funded research program in the early 2000s pertaining to advanced materials needed for reusable space vehicles and weapons" — and stated this connection "has not been explained." The Department of Defense confirmed in response that there are no active national security investigations of any current or former clearance-holder in special access programs among the named subjects — a response the Committee said left "many unanswered questions." As of May 2026, the FBI has made no arrests and confirmed no connection between any cases.

ND No Definitive Determination · Connection Between Cases

As of May 2026, no connection between any of the cases documented in this chapter has been confirmed by the FBI or any other federal investigative body. Some family members of those connected to the cluster have publicly contested conspiracy characterizations and expressed grief at seeing their relatives linked to what they characterize as sensationalism. Rep. James Walkinshaw (D), on the Oversight Committee, stated he was "not convinced there is a coordinated motive," noting the United States has thousands of nuclear scientists. These counterarguments are part of the documented record and are presented here in full. The investigation is ongoing. This publication makes no finding as to connection or cause. It documents what is known, at what confidence level the evidence supports, and leaves the finding to the federal investigation where it appropriately belongs.
